As of November 2023, 92% of Ukrainians consider the Holodomor of 1932-1933 to have been a genocide of the Ukrainian people. [Holodomor was a man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine which lasted from 1932 to 1933 and claimed the lives of millions of Ukrainians – ed.]

Quote: "Over the past ten years, there has been an increase of 1.5 times in the number of respondents who agree with the thesis that the Holodomor of 1932-1933 was a genocide of the Ukrainian people.

The Holodomor of 1932-1933 is recognised as a genocide by the absolute majority of residents of both the western, central, and south-eastern oblasts of the country. There were also no significant differences in age distributions in this issue."

Details: In particular, in 2010, 60% of respondents said that the Holodomor was a genocide of the Ukrainian people.

And according to the results of the 2023 survey, 92% agree with the above statement. Only 4% deny it, and 4% find it challenging to answer.

 

The survey was conducted on 14-16 November 2023 among the population of Ukraine aged 18 and over in all oblasts, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas, as well as territories where there was no Ukrainian mobile communication at the time of the survey.

1,000 respondents were interviewed. Survey method: CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing).

The margin of error of the study with the confidence interval of 0.95 does not exceed 3.1%
