Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 11 Shahed-type attack drones launched by Russian forces overnight on 2 October.

Ukraine’s Air Force reports that Russia launched 32 drones from Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk.

Ukraine downed 11 drones over Kirovohrad, Odesa, and Sumy oblasts. Four Russian drones exited Ukrainian airspace towards Russia, while ten others were “locationally lost” in northern and central regions due to electronic warfare countermeasures.

Russia also targeted the Kyiv district in Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said. The attack damaged garage cooperatives, cars, and private residential houses. There were no casualties from this strike.

On the morning of 2 October, Russian troops attacked the Izmail district with attack drones, targeting port and border infrastructure. According to Governor Oleh Kiper, the attack injured two truck drivers. One of them is a Turkish citizen.

Russian forces regularly attack Ukrainian oblasts using various weapons, including strike drones, missiles, guided bombs, and multiple launch rocket systems.

While Russian leadership denies targeting civilian infrastructure, Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify these strikes as war crimes, arguing they are deliberate in nature.
