Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues Rao Gupta Travels to Spain, the United Kingdom, and Belgium
Office of the Spokesperson U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues Dr. Geeta Rao Gupta will travel to Madrid, Spain; London, United Kingdom; and Brussels, Belgium January 20-27. The Ambassador will engage in bilateral meetings with government counterparts in all three countries to discuss our shared efforts to promote the rights and empowerment of women and girls in the region and across the globe. On January 22 in Madrid, the Ambassador will join a conversation on the importance of women’s participation in public life at the Global Women Leader Voices (GWL Voices) inaugural Dialogue event. From January 23-25 in London, Ambassador Rao Gupta will engage with high-level UK government officials and consult with British civil society organizations on a variety of gender-related issues, including gender-based violence and particularly conflict-related sexual violence. On January 26 in Brussels, Ambassador Rao Gupta will participate in a NATO meeting on Women, Peace and Security (WPS), where she will engage with counterparts from NATO member countries on the advancement of the WPS agenda.
