Background:
- Earlier, the European Commission said it opposed the resumption of the system of issuing permits for Ukrainian hauliers, as demanded by Polish and Slovak border protesters.
- On the afternoon of 1 December, Slovak hauliers began the announced blockade of truck traffic at a checkpoint near Uzhhorod.
- Earlier, the Association of Slovak Hauliers announced an indefinite blockade of the checkpoint, starting on 1 December, with the same demands as the Polish border blockers.
- At the same time, the blockade by Polish hauliers has been going on since 6 November, with its key demand being to return the permit system for Ukrainian hauliers.
