A Russian missile strike on the center of Zaporizhzhia has resulted in two deaths and 15 injuries, according to local officials.

The attack, which occurred on the morning of 21 October, targeted the city center, causing significant damage to civilian infrastructure, including a kindergarten.

Fedorov said medical personnel continue to examine the injured and provide necessary assistance.

This incident follows an overnight attack on Zaporizhzhia that injured one person, as stated by Governor Fedorov.

The broader assault involved a large-scale drone attack, with Ukrainian air defense forces reportedly intercepting 59 out of 116 drones launched by Russian forces. The drones were shot down over multiple regions, including Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Sumy, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Poltava oblasts.

Zaporizhzhia is a strategic city in southeastern Ukraine. Its nuclear power plant is Europe’s largest, and it is a crucial industrial center. Russia frequently targets it and the oblast due to its strategic importance in controlling access to central Ukraine.
