The death toll from yesterday's Russian missile attack increased to seven when a 46-year-old port worker succumbed to severe injuries in hospital the following day.
The death toll from Russian missile attacks on Odesa Oblast’s port infrastructure has risen to seven, as reported by Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Oblast Military Administration, on 10 October.
The latest casualty, a 46-year-old port worker, died in hospital this morning due to severe injuries sustained in the attacks.
“Doctors did everything possible, but the injuries were too severe,” Kiper stated in his announcement.
Public broadcaster Suspilne says the Russian forces launched two separate missile attacks on Odesa Oblast on the evening of 9 October. Air raid alerts were issued at 19:02 and 20:05 due to the threat of ballistic missiles. Residents of Odesa reported hearing explosions shortly after each alert, while the Air Force warned of high-speed targets heading towards the city.
During the first air raid alert, one explosion was heard in Odesa. The second alert was followed by two explosions.
Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, along with Oleh Kiper, confirmed that the Russian military had targeted the port infrastructure of Odesa Oblast with ballistic missiles.
As of 23:35 on 9 October, officials reported 11 people injured, with seven in critical condition.
