Drone attack sparks fire at Moscow military school
A drone attack allegedly on Moscow's Higher Combined Arms Command School caused a fire in southeastern Moscow.
A drone attack on Moscow’s Higher Combined Arms Command School resulted in a fire in the early hours of 6 October, according to a report from the Russian Telegram channel SOTA. Local residents reported hearing a loud explosion and sounds similar to gunfire, though these were short-lived.
Video footage shared by SOTA showed a fire in the vicinity of Moscow’s Kuzminki park, which is located near the military school. The area around the school also reportedly houses a shooting range and a gas station.
The Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School is considered the oldest military educational institution in Russia, Militarnyi notes. Since 2015, it has been training command personnel with higher military-special education for mechanized troops and ground forces of the Russian Armed Forces since 2015.
Ukrainian official sources did not report on the attack.
This incident is part of an intensified campaign of long-range strikes by Ukraine on Russian territory over the past few months. These operations often involve launching dozens of drones simultaneously at strategic targets, including air bases, oil storage facilities, ammunition depots, and military installations.
The execution of these long-range drone strikes is coordinated by intelligence services operating under conditions of secrecy. In a single mission, dozens of drones may be launched at a single target, with attacks predominantly occurring at night.
