Quote from Mezhevikin: "One of the important steps taken to enhance training and improve the quality of instruction for servicemen at training centres is the extension of the duration of basic military training.
To this end, a basic military training programme with a duration of one and a half months has been developed and approved (currently, basic military training lasts for 30 days – ed.)."
Details: He clarified that the extension of the basic military training duration to one and a half months is a pilot project that is already being implemented at four key training centres of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as decided by Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi. Currently, about 500 servicemen are involved in this experiment.
At the same time, Mezhevikin noted that the updated basic military training programme includes studying the basics of using drones and trench-based electronic warfare and reconnaissance means, as well as enhancing tactical-fire training, reconnaissance-diversion activities, and survival skills on the front line, especially in winter conditions.
Mezhevikin stated that the results of the pilot project will be analysed in December this year. After that, the Commander-in-Chief will decide whether to expand this practice to other training centres.
Background: On 15 September, Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces, announced that a project to extend the duration of basic combined weapons training will be launched in October or November of this year.
