The Estonian defense company Frankenburg Technologies has announced it will begin producing missile systems in Ukraine, according to Bloomberg.

Frankenburg Technologies was established in January with the involvement of leading figures from Estonia’s defense and technology industries. The company is advised by former Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces, General Martin Herem, while the CEO of Milrem Robotics, Kuldar Vaarsi, joined as a strategic investor.

Milrem Robotics, an Estonian company, actively participates in several European defense projects managed by the European Defense Agency and the European Defense Fund.

One of the company’s co-founders is Taavi Madiberk, the CEO of Estonian supercapacitor manufacturer Skeleton Technologies, which has investments in Germany and France and a technology partnership with Siemens. According to company documents, Frankenburg Technologies is also associated with Margus Linnamäe, one of Estonia’s wealthiest businessmen.

“A newly established Estonian defense company announced it will start producing anti-drone missile systems in Ukraine at a time when the war-torn nation faces increasingly intense Russian air raids,” the publication says.

The company noted that Frankenburg Technologies’ announcement is a signal of European arms manufacturers’ interest in opening production facilities on Ukrainian soil, as per UkrInform.

Earlier, Ukraine deployed German-made Skynex air defense systems to protect its airspace, as revealed in an official video released by the Ukrainian Air Force on its day of celebration.

Ukraine deploys German Skynex air defense systems

Amid the ongoing Russian missile and drone attacks, Ukraine requests all available air defense systems from its allies. The Skynex is one of the cutting-edge systems presented by Rheinmetall in 2021. Its primary role is object air defense, focusing on protecting airfields and critical infrastructure due to its stationary nature.
