Details: The next step in approving the decision is the EU Council.
On 17 July, the European Commission gave its positive assessment of the possibility of disbursing this tranche. The EU Council concluded that Kyiv had successfully fulfilled nine reform indicators.
Background:
- These are funds under the macro-financial aid programme for Ukraine worth up to €50 billion.
- Ukraine received the first tranches without any conditions, and the next tranches are conditional on implementing a specific reform plan in several areas.
- The EU also sets up a body to monitor funding under the Ukraine Facility.
