Details: EU countries received additional funds due to a targeted competition for financing projects designed to help countries reduce migration pressure and provide Ukrainian refugees with the necessary support, services and assistance.
Bulgaria, Czechia, Poland and Romania can use funding from the EU budget to help newly arrived Ukrainians find housing, provide language and professional training, and access social and medical services.
Quote: "The funding will be subject to the respective monitoring and control systems of the EU financial framework," the message said.
Background: The European Commission noted that EU countries hosted over 4.1 million Ukrainians using a temporary protection mechanism, which was first applied shortly after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine and is currently extended until March 2025.
The German Federal Statistical Office reported that Ukrainians accounted for 8% of asylum seekers who receive assistance in Germany.
