In the first days of the full-scale invasion, he mobilized with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During his service, he rose to the rank of lieutenant and was a company commander of fire support for the 205th Battalion.

Volodin’s colleague, detective series director Artem Litvinenko, reacted to his death, saying, “I cannot comprehend this loss. As I was looking through the photos – you were present in nearly all of them. Even during the most difficult shifts, with excessive overtime and lack of sleep, you were always smiling, and constantly in good spirits. You were the consummate professional, utterly reliable, and truly ‘one of us’.”

“You voluntarily enlisted in those very first days of the invasion. It was the only choice for someone like you. That act encapsulated your character. This terrible war, this damned Russian aggression, is robbing us of our finest men,” Litvinenko added.
