Ukraine’s defense forces repelled Russian attacks in the Kupiansk (Kharkiv Oblast), Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Mariinka, Siversk (Donetsk Oblast), and Zaporizhzhia directions over the past 24 hours, the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported in its daily frontline update on 23 October.
Within 24 hours, a total of 38 skirmishes between Ukrainian defenders and invading Russian troops took place along the frontline. According to the General Staff update, the operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine “remains challenging.”
Over the past day, Russia launched one missile strike, 52 air strikes, and 15 MLRS barrage attacks. There were casualties and destruction to civilian housing and infrastructure.
Two killed, three injured in Russian air attacks on Kherson Oblast
Ukrainian aviation conducted seven strikes on Russian personnel and equipment concentrations and three strikes on Russia’s anti-aircraft systems, the report said.
Ukraine’s missile forces destroyed eight Russian artillery pieces, an electronic warfare station, and a pontoon bridge and struck four Russian troops and equipment concentration areas. Intense fighting continues around Bakhmut and Avdiivka in the Donetsk Oblast as Russia tries to break through Ukraine’s defenses, according to the Ukrainian military.
