A German volunteer, a former soldier of the Bundeswehr, has been killed on the front lines in Ukraine, according to RND.
The volunteer, identified only as Stefan, was fighting alongside Ukrainian forces against Russian occupiers for nearly two years. The International Legion confirmed that the 37-year-old fighter was killed in Russian shelling on 14 March while operating a reconnaissance drone from cover.
In an interview a year ago near Kharkiv, Stefan revealed that Russians put a bounty on his head.
Stefan, who had served in the Bundeswehr for five years and completed three missions to Afghanistan, had owned a transport company in southern Germany. He went to Ukraine in April 2022.
Stefan was the leader of a reconnaissance group in the special unit of the International Legion.
