Germany provides new military aid package for Ukraine worth € 1.3 billion

Speaking during a joint press conference in Kyiv with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced a new €1.3 billion military assistance package for Ukraine.

As reported by the Ukrinform, Pistorius stated that the package includes four additional IRIS-T air defense systems, 155mm shells, and anti-tank mines.

When asked about the number of shells, Pistorius clarified that this package includes 20,000 shells in addition to almost 140,000 for next year. “So we’re talking about a total of 160,000 units for 2024-2025, after which, from early 2025, we hope to increase,” the German defense minister explained.

Regarding the prospects of supplying Taurus long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine, Pistorius briefly responded that he has no new information on such plans.

On 21 November, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit. Pistorius visited a memorial to the EuroMaidan revolution and laid flowers in memory of the Maidan heroes.

On 17 November, Ukraine launched bilateral security negotiations with Germany, becoming the sixth country to hold such talks, Ukraine’s Presidential Office reported.
