Meanwhile, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have already announced that they are "at war".
Minister of Defence Yoav Galant approved the call-up of reserve soldiers.
Images on social media show burning cars and damaged buildings, and Israel's ambulance service said one person was killed and at least 15 were injured.

Cellphone footage also shows Hamas militants trying to reach Israel by sea using small boats, and, very unusually, several Palestinian militants appear to have crossed the border using paragliders.

Air-raid warnings sound across southern and central Israel, and explosions thunder in the cities of Tel Aviv, Ashkelon, Yavne and Kfar Aviv.
The Israeli military ordered residents of border towns to stay home and said they were attacking targets in the Gaza Strip.

It is noted that Defence Minister Yoav Galant is heading to Tel Aviv for urgent information, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an emergency cabinet meeting on security issues.
Hamas' military commander, Mohammad Deif, claimed that 5,000 rockets had been launched during the attack on Saturday, whereas an Israeli military spokesperson claimed that the group launched 2,500 rockets.
