Heavy artillery and assault groups: Russian troops step up assaults in selidove area near Pokrovsk
The situation on the Pokrovske front remains complex, with Russian occupiers launching major assaults toward Selidove, according to Major Vitaliy Milovidov of the 15th National Guard Operational Brigade.
The situation on the Pokrovsk front remains complicated. At the end of October, Russian occupiers began assaults involving a significant number of troops and equipment in the direction of Selidove, where fighting is ongoing, said Major Vitaly Milovidov, an officer of the 15th National Guard Operational Brigade, in an interview with Ukrainian Radio.
Pokrovsk serves as a crucial logistics hub for Ukraine, located at the intersection of vital road and rail supply routes. This makes it essential for the movement of troops, provisions, and ammunition across the eastern front. Control over Pokrovsk would severely disrupt Ukrainian supply lines, complicating their ability to defend other territories in Donetsk Oblast. and potentially allowing Russian forces to advance deeper into Ukraine.
The assaults of Moscow troops near Pokrovsk don’t stop day and night, said Milovidov.
“The enemy has concentrated its main forces and is launching its primary attack towards the settlement of Vyshneve. The number of enemy groups is not decreasing; it has prepared a large number of reserves and is engaging them simultaneously from several directions, preemptively preparing landing zones for advances both to the south and north. The Russian military is also deploying a significant number of assault groups that constantly attempt to advance—both day and night,” the military officer emphasized.
According to him, this movement is also supported by heavy artillery fire of various calibers. Additionally, the Russian army is actively using electronic warfare tools to hinder Ukrainian reconnaissance operations in radio horizons.
“It has made it much more difficult to penetrate deeply. The enemy is also attempting to employ armored vehicles. Over the past day, there were seven attempted assaults on the positions of our unit, as well as adjacent units carrying out combat tasks in this direction. They were successfully repelled.
However, the invaders are actively using FPV drones and are trying to conduct assault actions with its infantry, specifically targeting concentration areas, supply routes, and our positions, which complicates our operations,” Major Milovidov stated.
He added that the invaders on the Pokrovsk front were deploying a large number of troops. They had tested various movement tactics and attempted to conduct assault actions using armored groups and mechanized columns. However, “the tactic of mass infantry assaults is being applied very regularly.”
