Details: The Office of the Prime Minister and the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Israel stated that they are monitoring the situation in Dagestan and "expect Russian law enforcement to maintain the safety of all Israeli citizens and Jews and to act with determination against rioters and wild incitement against Jews and Israelis".
"Israel takes a grave view of attempts to harm Israeli citizens and Jews anywhere," they say.
Alex Ben Zvi, the Israeli Ambassador to Russia, is working to make sure that all plane passengers are safe.
At the same time, an anonymous member of the Israeli Security Service revealed that a certain number of Israelis and Jews are currently at the airport in the city of Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan.
"A limited number of Israelis and Jews are currently isolated and under guard at the airport," the official says. "We are working on having them depart on a connection flight to Moscow once conditions allow it."
Background: In Makhachkala, Russia, participants of an antisemitic rally stormed the airport and tried to enter a plane from Tel Aviv, looking for Jewish people. The airport is closed.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said after a video of antisemites storming the Makhachkala airport that Russian antisemitism and hatred of other nations are systemic and deep-rooted.
