Ukraine will soon receive transformers and solar panels from Japanese partners, Ukraine’s Energy Ministery reported following a meeting between Ukraine’s Deputy Energy Ministers Yaroslav Demchenko and Svitlana Hrynchuk and a delegation from Japan’s international cooperation agency JICA.
JICA Vice President Ando Naoki assured Ukraine that Japan will continue supporting its energy sector and announced deliveries of transformers and solar panels over the next few months. Demchenko thanked Japan for the vital assistance provided to Ukraine’s energy sector as it faces attacks from Russia on its infrastructure ahead of winter.

Hrynchuk said Ukraine is interested in deepening cooperation with the agency to reinforce the protection of energy facilities. She also invited JICA representatives to use the AidEnergy online system, which allows real-time review of Ukrainian energy companies’ needs and prompt aid delivery.
Ando Naoki emphasized that energy security is extremely important, noting around 40% of Japan’s assistance to Ukraine supports the country’s energy sector.
