In Kyiv Oblast, 198 educational institutions damaged or destroyed by Russia during its full-scale invasion have been restored, as reported by the Kyiv Regional Military Administration on Facebook. Plans are underway to restore 15 more kindergartens, with work already in progress in nine of them, including those in Bucha, Irpin, Borodianka, Brovary, and other communities.
Kyiv Oblast took most of the damage from the Russian invasion during the first month of the all-out war in late February 2022 and throughout March, when the Russians tried to capture Kyiv in a failed ground operation. Since April 2022, Russia’s damage in the region is only due to suicide drone and missile attacks.
“Losses the full-scale invasion in the educational sector in Kyiv Oblast are considerable – 244 schools, kindergartens, out-of-school and vocational education institutions were destroyed or damaged. To date, 198 facilities have been fully or partially restored. These include 122 schools and 71 kindergartens,” said the Administration’s Head Ruslan Kravchenko.
