Lithuania cancels American singer LP show seen in Russian flag hoodie
American singer LP's concert in Lithuania was canceled after she poted in a Russian flag hoodie. The event organizers said "Our position remains firm.... We will not tolerate messages supporting the aggressor country."
A concert by American singer LP (Laura Pergolizzi), scheduled to take place in Lithuania on 4 March, was canceled after she met with Russian fans and appeared on the Internet in a hoodie with the Russian flag, Lithuanian outlet LRT reported on 28 February.
On 26 February, the 42-year-old performer posted a message on Instagram thanking the Russian fan club for the hoodie with the Russian flag.
According to a Lithuanian outlet, Remigijus Knabikas, head of Medusa Concert, initially said there were no plans to cancel LP’s concert in Kaunas Žalgiris Arena. Later, Kaunas announced the cancellation of the singer’s concert.
“Kaunas Žalgiris Arena has a clear civic and values position – we firmly support Ukraine. Together with the event organizers, we decided that our position remains firm – the concert must be canceled,” Mantas Vedrikas, head of the event organization department of Žalgiris Arena, said.
“With this decision, we want to draw LP’s attention, as well as other artists planning events in Lithuania, that we will not tolerate messages supporting the aggressor country,” he said.
Earlier, LP performed on stage with the Ukrainian flag. In 2022, in Warsaw, she left an autograph on one of them and the inscription, “I love you Ukraine. You brave, beautiful people”.
