Mandatory evacuation looms in northern Kharkiv Oblast over Russian shelling
The persistent shelling, now hitting previously spared populated areas, has led authorities to consider expanding the mandatory evacuation zone.
The authorities are considering ordering a mandatory evacuation from the northern parts of Kharkiv Oblast, which face relentless daily Russian shelling, said Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
In recent weeks, the Russians have intensified the bombardment of Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region. In particular, they have begun using guided air bombs. To protect the city, Ukraine is asking its partners for additional air defense systems.
