The commander in chief of the Swedish armed forces, General Micael Byden, has visited positions of the 45th Separate Artillery Brigade on the front in eastern Ukraine.
He has spoken to the soldiers who underwent military training in Sweden and have used the obtained skills on the battlefield. The defenders thanked Bydén and his country for the support of the Ukrainian people amid Russia’s war.
Sweden has traditionally been a neutral country, but after the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the country changed its policy and is now seeking to join the NATO alliance, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports.
Sweden has also equipped the brigade with its Archer mobile artillery pieces in the autumn.
Currently, Ukraine is considering adding Swedish Gripen fighter jets to its air force alongside F-16s, according to the country’s Air Force.
