Details: As noted by the foreign ministry, on Monday, 14 October, "more than six dozen" Ukrainian diplomatic missions received anonymous letters about mining, and this number continues to grow.

Quote: "The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha instructed [relevant staff] to strengthen security measures in Ukrainian diplomatic institutions," the statement said.

Ukrainian diplomats have also contacted law enforcement agencies in the host countries and, in some cases, have been forced to suspend consular services temporarily.

"It is important to clarify that the massive wave of anonymous mining threats did not affect the work of the diplomatic system of Ukraine and foreign diplomatic missions," the Foreign Ministry added.

Background:

  • It should be noted that a wave of mining reports on Monday hit various cities in Ukraine, prompting police to launch an investigation.
  • Last month, the Ukrainian Embassy in Vienna received a fake bomb threat, forcing it to suspend operations.
