Quote: "Therefore, 66% of our country's residents believe Russia can be defeated on the battlefield. This is undoubtedly respectable. At the same time, 16% of Ukrainians no longer have this belief, and 18% are hesitant."

Details: Ukraine's west (69% of respondents) believes in a military victory the most and is the least ready to negotiate with Russia. Meanwhile, the country's south consistently expresses the most significant doubts about Ukraine's ability to achieve a military victory, with 25% of residents in this region lacking confidence in such an outcome, compared to the national average of 16%.

ZN.UA emphasises that understanding what people consider a victory is crucial. Although sociologists did not directly ask this question, ZN.UA notes that Ukrainians indirectly addressed it: 51% of respondents insisted on restoring the 1991 borders, 26% were willing to accept the 2022 borders, and only 9% were ready to accept the state of affairs at the front when signing a potential peace agreement.

ZN.UA notes that the study polled the opinions of 2027 respondents aged 18 and over and that the theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.

However, it is stressed that the sociologists interviewed people representing the rear part of Ukraine.

"Most of the passionate volunteers, along with those compelled to join them, are serving on the front. It is now impossible to survey the opinions of the military, who bear the brunt of the war and deserve the most significant, if not decisive, voice in negotiations with Russia. Therefore, the study's results cannot be considered representative of the entire country; they reflect the opinions of those on the home front," ZN.UA stated.
