Details: The Spanish Defence Ministry stated that as a continuation of the activities already carried out during the first half of 2023, the 74th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment is conducting a new training course for several dozen Ukrainian servicemen on the use and maintenance of HAWK air defence systems.
They noted that these exercises are designed to improve Ukraine's air defence capabilities against the threat of aircraft, missiles or drones.
The comprehensive training of the initial module, which includes theoretical and practical exercises, is being carried out in Dos Hermanas, and highly qualified and experienced regiment personnel have been selected to form the team of instructors, the ministry said.
Background:
Earlier, Spain confirmed the provision of six launchers for Hawk anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine and announced the supply of 155 mm and 105 mm artillery ammunition.
The Spanish government decided to provide Ukraine with six Hawk air defence missile launchers following talks between Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Back in October 2022, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that, at the request of the Alliance, Spain would provide four Hawk air defence launchers, and in November of the same year, it announced the provision of two more launchers.
