A top Russian commander has allegedly died after being blown up by a landmine in Ukraine, Newsweek reports.
Ukrainian military officer Colonel Anatoly Stefan has reported the death of Russian Major General Vladimir Zavadsky in a post on his Telegram channel, adding that further clarification on the cause of his death was needed.
Zavadsky served in the Russian armed forces as deputy commander of a training tank regiment, deputy head of a training center, and commander of a motorized rifle division after graduating from the Moscow Combined Arms Command School in 2000.
Zavadsky was commander of the Kantemirovskaya Guards Tank Division, stationed in the Moscow region, from August 2018 to June 2021, and was deputy commander of the 14th Army Corps.
Earlier, Russian actress Polina Menshikh had been killed in an alleged Ukrainian strike while giving a performance to invaders who celebrated the Russian Day of Missile Forces and Artillery on 19 November.
