Ocasio-Cortez fires back at Fetterman’s 'bleak dunk attempt' on Gaza

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) fired back at Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) over his “bleak dunk attempt” on the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Fetterman, who is a vocal advocate of Israel, posted a screenshot of The Hill’s article from Monday where Ocasio-Cortez criticized the Biden administration over the “unrestrained” Israeli government.

“This tragedy in Gaza is 100 percent on Hamas,” Fetterman posted on the social platform X. “Stop using civilians and hospitals as shields, surrender, and release all remaining hostages — and this ends.”

Ocasio-Cortez responded to Fetterman in a post of her own.

“I dunno man. I care about little kids dying. I care about human rights. I care that billions of US tax dollars’ worth of weapons are carrying out unspeakable atrocities,” she responded. “I care enough for us to do better.”

“Hope this bleak dunk attempt gets you whatever it is you’re going for,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

On Monday, the New York Democrat said the horrors that were unfolding in Gaza were a result of a “completely unrestrained Netanyahu” government that the Biden administration arms.

“This is a genocide of Palestinians,” she said, adding that the United States has to stop “enabling it.”

The Israel-Hamas war has shed light on the divisions among congressional Democrats.

Fetterman is a strong supporter of Israel’s mission to eliminate Hamas and has demanded that the remaining hostages be released. Progressives like Ocasio-Cortez have begun to demand the U.S. stop its infusion of cash to Israel as the civilian death toll in Gaza continues to climb.
