'Pod Save America' host: 'Biden seems to be disappearing from the public stage'

“Pod Save America” host Jon Favreau said in a Tuesday episode of the podcast that the President Biden “seems to be disappearing from the public stage.”

“So, the purpose of [President-elect] Trump’s appearance at Mar-a-Lago Monday morning was to announce a $100 billion investment from SoftBank, the hugely influential Japanese bank in American [artificial intelligence (AI)] projects,” Favreau said during the episode highlighted by Mediaite, referencing a press conference from the president-elect on Monday.

“What an American story,” he added. “It was more or less a standard presidential policy announcement, the main difference being Trump isn’t president yet. A fact that’s getting easier and easier to forget as Joe Biden seems to be disappearing from the public stage as his term comes to an end.”

Trump’s 2024 election success and impending return to the White House has rattled Democrats, who also lost the House and Senate. Some Democrats have blamed their loss of the presidency on Biden and him not stepping out of the race earlier.

In an episode of “Pod Save America” from last month, Favreau referred to the president’s reelection bid as a “catastrophic mistake,” also saying that those close to him refused to think he was “unpopular.”

“They refuse to acknowledge until very late that anyone could be upset about inflation. And they just kept telling us that his presidency was historic and it was the greatest economy ever,” Favreau said during the episode last month.

On the “Pod Save America” episode from Tuesday, Favreau said Biden “could be giving speeches or press conferences where he talks about the importance of defending democratic institutions, which, was very, I know that’s not a political winner, but it was important to him for his presidency.”

Biden now has about a month left in his presidency, with Trump’s inauguration day coming Jan. 20 of next year.
