Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen has met with Pope Francis to discuss cooperation between Vatican City and Vilnius and assistance for Ukrainian refugees.

“The words of Pope Francis about stopping the war and aggression are significant. During the meeting, I told him Lithuania appreciates the Holy See’s attention, prayers for the suffering people in Ukraine, and help for Ukrainian refugees.

Pope Francis has also donated over $100,000 to the Lithuanian organization ‘Caritas’ that assists refugees,” the speaker said.

Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen has also urged the world to support President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula.

“If Ukraine doesn’t win, the war could eventually reach Lithuania,” the speaker stated.
