Quote: "Near the border with Moldova, state border guards detained four offenders, three of whom were wearing church vestments. Two of the ‘priests’ turned out to be bogus, and the third, a current cleric of the Moscow Patriarchate, was a protopriest in the treasury of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (the Monastery of the Caves). All four tried to illegally cross the border."
Details: It is reported that the dealers who promised to take the false priests across the border also turned out to be fake. They took the men on a boat across Lake Kahal and dropped them off on the opposite shore.
The walk across the pond cost the men US$4,000 each.
State border guards of the Izmail detachment drew up reports on administrative offences for attempting to illegally cross the state border.
