Details: Speaking via video link at the opening of new transport infrastructure facilities in Russia's regions, Putin expressed confidence that Kazan's authorities would repair all the damage caused by the recent attack.
Quote: "Anyone who tries to destroy anything here, however they do it, will experience even greater destruction at home and will come to regret everything they tried to do in our country."
Details: Putin failed to mention that it was Russia that launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and has destroyed countless homes in various cities over the past three years. Ukraine is attacked by Russian attack drones and/or missiles every day.
Background:
- On the morning of 21 December, at least seven drones struck Kazan, Russia. Some hit residential buildings, including a 32-storey luxury apartment block.
- The Russian authorities also reported a strike on an industrial plant in Kazan.
- Andrii Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defence Council's Center for Countering Disinformation, said on Telegram that the Kazan Powder Plant is a key enterprise in Russia’s military-industrial complex specialising in the production of explosives, rocket fuel and other components critical to the Russian army. The plant provides the Russian armed forces with ammunition and materials they need to produce missiles of various classes and purposes, including Kalibrs, Iskanders, and other missiles.
