Russia increased its drone attacks on Ukraine in October, deploying 1,908 Iranian-made Shahed drones compared to 1,331 in September, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on 2 October.

The daily average of drone attacks rose from 44 in September to 62 in October – a 43% increase.

Russia launched 71 Shahed drones targeting Kyiv and other cities overnight into 2 November. The debris from the Russian drones caused fires and damaged some civilian buildings and cars in Kyiv.

“Russia is intensifying its terror,” said Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

In response to the escalating attacks, Sybiha called for removing restrictions on Ukraine’s ability to strike back at drone bases and storage facilities within Russia.

Despite Ukraine’s months-long appeals amid escalating Russian air attacks, Western nations, including the US and UK, continue to restrict the use of their long-range weapons like ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles to prevent deep strikes inside Russia, reportedly to avoid further escalation.
