Russia prepares to hold new illegal elections in occupied territories of Ukraine – Ukrainian resistance

The Russians are actively preparing to hold another illegal election in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine during a single election day.

Details: The NRC reports that the Kremlin is launching a special chatbot to help citizens "vote" for specific candidates or file complaints to ensure the "efficiency" of the vote.

Quote: "The illegal elections in the [temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine] are scheduled for 14 September 2025 and 20 September 2026 and are intended to create preconditions for increasing the number of ‘deputies’ [MPs] from these territories in the State Duma of the Russian Federation."

Details: The occupation administration plans to organise nine single-member electoral districts in Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. Through this process, the Kremlin is trying to legitimise its occupation of Ukrainian territories and choose "representatives" of these areas for the Russian parliament.
