On the morning of 4 January, Russian forces shelled Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, local governor Serhii Lysak said.
Nikopol is facing Russian-occupied Enerhodar and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant across the Dnipro River.
The morning attack injured two men, both of whom had leg injuries. One of them was in critical condition, Lysak said. The consequences of the attack are being clarified.
Over the past day, on 3 January, the Russian military attacked Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast eight times with drones and artillery. The strikes damaged several private houses and outbuildings, seven solar panels, greenhouses, and cars. Reportedly, the attack did not result in casualties. About 1,500 families were left without electricity due to the night shelling.
The Dnipropetrovsk Oblast has been under repeated Russian attacks. Since early 2023, 119 people have been killed in the oblast, Suspilne reported. As of 27 December 2023, Russian military forces shelled settlements in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast almost 1,900 times.
