Russians execute nine Ukrainian POWs in Kursk Oblast
Ukraine's Ombudsman Lubinets has informed the UN and ICRC about the reported execution of nine Ukrainian prisoners of war.
Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets has informed the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) about the possible execution of nine Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian forces in Kursk Oblast, Russia.
Lubinets wrote on Telegram on 13 October:
“Information is again spreading on social networks about the possible shooting of 9 Ukrainian prisoners of war in Kursk Oblast by the Russians. Such actions are a gross violation of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.“
The Ukrainian Ombudsman emphasized that he had sent letters to the UN and ICRC regarding “another crime by the Russians.” Lubinets stressed that such actions should not go unpunished, and the Russians must bear full responsibility.
“Russia is a terrorist country that violates all the rules and customs of war. The international community should not turn a blind eye to such crimes.” Lubinets wrote.
According to the OSINT project DeepState, which cites its sources in the 1st Separate Tank Brigade and shared the pixelated drone photo of dead bodies, Russian military forces shot nine Ukrainian soldiers in Kursk Oblast on 10 October.
Deep State reported that a group of drone operators and their support personnel was attacked near Zelenyi Shlyakh. They were initially moving to positions under the assumption they were in a relatively safe area, but unexpectedly encountered enemy forces.
The report stated, “The men thought they were in the rear, but had to engage the enemy.” Although they attempted to fight back, their ammunition was limited, forcing them to eventually surrender.
