Quote: "Today, we have started restoring the infrastructure of the registry system. Tomorrow, the backups will be validated and the restoration is expected to begin according to the agreed plan. That is, the platforms have already been formed and we are starting to fill them directly."
Details: Kucheriavenko acknowledged that the ministry had been subjected to a particularly devastating cyberattack, but noted that the Ministry of Justice has backups and "no information has been lost". He emphasised that the Ministry of Justice was working around the clock.
According to logistics, the Unified Register of Powers of Attorney, the Register of Special Forms and Notarial Documents, and the Inheritance Register will be restored first, followed by the State Register of Civil Status Acts, the Unified State Register, and the State Register of Property Rights.
Background:
- On 19 December, Ukraine suffered the largest cyberattack on government registers in recent times. The operation of key Ministry of Justice systems has been temporarily suspended as a result of the attack conducted by Russian hackers. The hackers claimed to have destroyed all data they gained access to, including backup copies stored on servers in Poland.
- The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection did not confirm the leak after the Russian cyberattack.
