Secretary Blinken’s Meeting with Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa

Blinken met today with Bahrain’s leader, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in Manama. The Secretary and the King discussed the reckless and dangerous Houthi attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and reaffirmed their shared commitment to international law and freedom of navigation through Operation Prosperity Guardian. Secretary Blinken praised the role of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA) in expanding the enduring strategic partnership between the United States and Bahrain. Secretary Blinken underscored the need to urgently address the humanitarian situation in Gaza and welcomed efforts to protect civilian lives, free hostages, increase humanitarian assistance, and prevent further spread of the conflict. The Secretary and the King reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting a more secure, prosperous, and integrated region, including through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, to sustain a lasting peace.
