Secretary Blinken expressed appreciation for Egypt’s partnership in assisting the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza. Secretary Blinken and President El Sisi discussed ongoing efforts to secure the release of all remaining hostages. The Secretary reiterated U.S. commitment to ensuring Palestinians in Gaza are not forcibly displaced and to achieving regional peace that ensures Israel’s security and advances the establishment of a Palestinian state. The Secretary emphasized the importance of deterring Houthi attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and preventing the conflict from spreading in the region.
