Blinken met Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen yesterday in Washington to strengthen the U.S.-Finland relationship, reaffirm unwavering support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s full-scale invasion, and discuss ways to expand cooperation on emerging technology and the protection of critical undersea infrastructure. The Secretary and the Foreign Minister also underscored their shared commitment to Sweden’s swift accession to NATO and discussed the situation in the Middle East. Additionally, the Secretary and Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen signed the U.S.-Finland Defense Cooperation Agreement.
