Secretary Blinken’s Meeting with North Macedonia’s Foreign Minister Osmani

Blinken met with North Macedonia’s Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani today in Skopje, North Macedonia. The Secretary commended North Macedonia’s strong contributions and leadership as the OSCE Chair-in-Office, fostering a united response in support of Ukraine while promoting peace and stability for Europe. The Secretary also thanked the Foreign Minister for the strong bilateral partnership between the United States and North Macedonia and stressed the importance of strengthening democratic institutions, including the fight against corruption, increasing energy security by bringing non-Russian gas to the region, and continuing rule of law reform. The Secretary reaffirmed the United States would remain a steadfast partner and Ally in support of North Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic path.
