Ukraine has received a ninth tranche of macro-financial assistance from the European Union worth €1.5 billion, Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on 23 October.
According to Shmyhal’s official Telegram channel, the aid brings the EU’s total budget support for Ukraine in 2023 to €15 billion so far. Shmyhal said this support is “one of the most important factors” in helping Ukraine remain economically resilient and strong.
He added that Ukraine is now working with the European Commission on a new long-term Ukraine Facility program worth €50 billion total, with plans to receive €18 billion from it next year.
Shmyhal thanked Ukraine’s European partners for their “unwavering solidarity.”
The European Commission had previously paid out the eighth tranche of €1.5 billion to Ukraine on 22 September.
