Russian forces launched a missile attack on the port infrastructure of Odesa Oblast on the evening of 9 October, claiming the lives of six people and leaving nine more injured. A civilian vessel flying the Panamanian flag has been damaged.

Quote: "Five people have been killed and nine more injured in yet another ballistic missile attack by Russian terrorists on the port infrastructure of Odesa Oblast.

All the affected are Ukrainians. They are currently receiving medical assistance, and five of them are in a critical condition."

Details: Kuleba noted that a civilian vessel flying the Panamanian flag, the container ship Shui Spirit, had been damaged in the attack. This is the third foreign vessel targeted by Russia in the last four days.

Updated: Kiper reported that the death toll from the attack has risen to six. Eight more civilians have been injured, four of them are in a critical condition.

Background:

  • On the night of 5-6 October, Russian forces bombarded Odesa with Shahed loitering munitions, leaving a civilian cargo ship damaged.
  • On 7 October, the Russians struck the port infrastructure in Odesa with ballistic missiles, hitting a civilian vessel flying the Palauan flag. The attack left a 60-year-old Ukrainian man dead and five more foreign nationals injured.
