Spain provides first NASAMS maintenance training to Ukrainian military personnel
As part of its commitments to Ukraine, Spain has initiated training for Ukrainian troops on the maintenance of the NASAMS air defense system.
Spanish instructors from the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Ukraine (EUMAM_UA_TTCC) are conducting training for the first time with Ukrainian military personnel on the maintenance of the NASAMS air defense system.
According to Spanish Defense Staff, this one-month training module falls under the commitments made by Spain to Ukraine.
Instructors from the 73rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment of the Spanish Army will train the Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners. The training process will take place directly at the Tentegorra barracks in Cartagena.
On 25 March, Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy held talks with Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez.
The NASAMS (National/Norwegian Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System) is a highly capable air defense system provided to Ukraine by its Western allies to help protect against Russian aerial attacks.
Meanwhile, Ukraine faces air defense and ammunition shortages, Russia has intensified missile attacks on Ukraine recently, causing significant damage to energy and electricity infrastructure.
