Quote: "For the past 1,000 days, a brave Ukraine has been exercising its inherent right to self-defence in response to Russia's illegal, unprovoked, brutal aggression. We must continue to defend Ukraine's right to protect its territory and its people in line with the UN Charter."

Details: Lambrinidis also stressed that countries such as North Korea or Iran should stop all support for Russia in its war of aggression. This applies not only to direct military assistance but also to the supply of dual-use goods and other resources that could contribute to military operations.

Background:

  • Andrii Sybiha, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, stated at a UN Security Council meeting that Russia's recent large-scale attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure are a demonstrative response by Russian ruler Vladimir Putin to all those who have tried to negotiate peace with him.
