Russian President Vladimir Putin could face a new war crime case as evidence suggests starvation of Ukraine was pre-planned, The Independent has reported.
New evidence shows Russia was actively preparing to steal grain supplies and starve the Ukrainian population before the 2022 attack.
Human rights experts have found that Russian tanks invaded Ukraine in 2022, they deliberately targeted grain-rich areas and food production infrastructure.
The new report by international human rights law company Global Rights Compliance found Russia’s defense contractor began purchasing trucks to transport grain and three bulk carrier cargo ships in December 2021.
The evidence of a “highly coordinated level of pre-planning” will be provided to the International Criminal Court. The company hopes it will lead to the first prosecution against Putin for the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare.
