Details: The prosecutor has proven in court that the defendant accompanied Russian convoys of vehicles through the territory of Sumy Oblast in his personal vehicle in the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Being a local resident and, therefore, well aware of all possible roads leading around the main ones, the man arranged all the prerequisites for the successful advance of Russian vehicles into Kyiv Oblast. These included tanks, armoured personnel carriers and self-propelled artillery systems.
The Ukrainska Pravda's sources reported that the traitor in question is Hennadii Popsui.
Ukrainian defenders destroyed the above-mentioned convoy of Russian forces in the course of the war.
At the same time, the Russian asset himself came back to Sumy Oblast after escorting the occupying forces, continuing to work for Russia's FSB even after the oblast was liberated, the SSU said.
The defendant gathered intelligence on the deployment and armaments of Ukraine's Defence Forces in the oblast.
SSU Counterintelligence detained the offender during a special operation in August 2022.
Based on the SSU investigation, the court found the Russian proxy guilty under Art. 111.1 and Art. 111.2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason) and sentenced him to 15 years of imprisonment.
