Details: If back in June-July, the UK intelligence reported intense hostilities in the Velyka Novosilka section of the front line, which is west of the city of Vuhledar, over the past four weeks the fighting there has been "much less intense."
Quote: "Over the summer, Ukraine almost certainly liberated at least 125 square kilometres of territory on this axis," the agency estimates.
The intelligence review indicates that the 36th and 5th Combined Arms Armies of the Russian Eastern Military District have been constrained by Ukrainian operations in this area, preventing them from strengthening other areas. Additionally, it has attracted a number of Russian airborne units.
"While this axis has stabilised, Russian forces likely remain in a defensive posture to guard against possible future Ukrainian offensive operations," the review says.
The review also notes that it is unlikely that Russian forces will leave this axis in the upcoming six weeks in significant numbers.
Last month, UK Defence Intelligence reported that Russian forces are stepping up their defence of the strategically important city of Tokmak in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
