Ukraine’s Air Forces destroyed the Russian fighter jets in Mariupol and Avdiivka directions.
Ukrainian military shot down two more Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers on 29 February at 9 am, Ukraine’s Air Force reported.
According to the statement, they were destroyed in the Avdiivka and Mariupol directions.
This brings the total number of nine Russian jets downed in February.
On the morning of 29 February, Ukraine’s military reported the downing of the seventh Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber aircraft in a week.
“Today is 29 February, a date that falls once every four years, but it is already a familiar day for Russians with the loss of another plane,” Commander of Ukraine’s Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk said on the morning TV Telemarathon.
The Su-34 is crucial for Russian troops, estimated to cost around $36 million each. Russia uses them for tactical deployments against Ukrainian ground and naval targets. The jet also undertakes tactical bomber, attack, and interdiction roles, which could be performed against various targets, day or night, and in any weather conditions.
