Poland’s new Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said Russia will lose the war with Ukraine if Europe mobilizes its efforts and helps Kyiv, during his first visit abroad since taking office.
On 22 December, Sikorski came to Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian officials and discuss cooperation between Poland and Kyiv in the defense sector, aid for Ukrainian refugees, and blockade at the Ukraine border by Polish haulers.
The minister condemned Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukraine and said that the country serves as inspiration for the whole of Europe in its brave fight against Russia’s military aggression.
“If Ukraine wins, it will boost the morale of the entire free world. That is why Ukraine must prevail,” Sikorski claimed.
The minister underlined that Ukraine plays a priority role in Poland’s foreign policy and that Warsaw would continue supporting Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
Recently, the relationship between Kyiv and Warsaw has been tight over grain and economic disputes.
At the meeting with Sikorski, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv would make efforts to address challenges in the relations.
“We hope for the opening of a new page in our relations. We are very strong neighbors with a shared history. We are glad to see you here. I hope that the Prime Minister of Poland will also visit Ukraine at the earliest opportunity,” Zelenskyy said.
The president and Sikorski also discussed the establishment of joint Poland-Ukraine facilities for weapons production.
As reported, Ukrainian and Polish officials agreed on a plan to end the blockade of four border checkpoints by Polish haulers, who demand changes to the freight transportation agreement between the two countries.
